Neighborhood clinics and university hospitals share the records of periodic checkups of elderly residents with chronic diseases to manage their health remotely. This is the first case of collaboration between a local government and a medical institution, in order to receive easy examinations at welfare centers and to prevent exacerbation of chronic diseases.
From January 2021, ICT health care centers have been established at three welfare centers in Gimhae.
Local hospitals and university hospitals share the health information of residents measured by the ICT Health Care Center.
Through the integrated care system, local clinics treat patients in more detail and, if necessary, request treatment from Pusan National University Hospital.
[Director Jong-oh Shin / Clinic participating in 'ICT Health Care'] "People with reduced mobility or the elderly often cannot or miss the test itself, but (through this project,) they can get an opportunity to have medical information. It helps build trust between patients and doctors."
[Professor Tak YoungJin / Pusan National University Hospital Convergence Medical Technology Institute] "When severe cardiovascular disease occurs, it is quickly transported to Pusan National University Hospital for treatment, and it is a system that facilitates communication between primary medical institutions and medical staff at tertiary hospitals.
It is the first time in the country that local governments and primary and tertiary medical institutions have created a system for sharing residents' health information.
